Remedial Measures against Typical Defects of Double Split Switch Applied to Heavy Haul Traffic

An entrance to the sea, Liuchun yard of Da ～ Qin Railway is the largest unloading station of the Chinese railway, serving 5500 cars daily in average. Due to the rapid increase of total passing weight, the complex structure, the numerous fittings, insufficient understanding of the characteristics and the lack of routine maintenance , the 26 sets of double split switches placed at the yard throat area demonstrate some growing defects and become a challenge to maintenance. This paper discusses and analyses the common defects related to double split switch and summarizes some countermeasures.
