The temperature drop and energy consumption of hot metal during its transportation are directly affected by the heat preservation performance of torpedo. The traditional permanent ling of a 60t-torpedo was replaced by the micro-pore insulating brick. The heat transfer and energy conservation were analyzed based on the measured temperatures and numerical calculation values. The results show that the temperature at the interface of working lining and permanent lining increases, the temperature gradient of working lining decreases while that of permanent lining increases, the outside temperature of torpedo decreases obviously. So, the dramatic energy conservation can be attained because the heat loss from outside wall reduces 30% and the heat loss for lining heat accumulation reduces 58%.
