A novel dual-side film-inversion scheme is presented which consists of two or more vertically arranged plate bundles and some pairs of film guiders between them leading solution film from both-sides of each upper plate transferring to the opposite sides of the lower one. It overcomes the drawback that only half of the total heat transfer area is used for film-inversion at one-side of tubes or plates in other schemes in literatures. A mathematic model of the dual-side film-inversion of aqueous LiBr solution in absorption process is established and solved numerically. The velocity, temperature, and mass fraction profiles in the liquid film before and after film inversion are obtained. The calculation results show that the absorption coefficients of the film-inversion scheme are 58% higher than that of the continuous-film scheme.
