The cross-linked hydrogel films were previouslyreported to be prepared with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)and chitosan using freeze-thawing method. For thedevelopment of a novel minocycline–loaded wounddressing, here the thermal property and in vivowound healing effects were studied. Our resultsshowed that increased chitosan concentrationdecreased the thermal stability but decreased theelasticity of hydrogel film. Furthermore, the healingrate of the hydrogels was faster compared toconventional product (MedifoamTM) and control(sterile gauze). Therefore, this polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)/chitosan based hydrogels could be effectivelyused in wound care.
