The authors recently used the Primawave technology on two separate injectionprojects in central Florida. Shallow, open aquifers often result in blow-by wherethe injected remedial material flows up to the surface around the injection rods. Thisphenomenon greatly reduces remedial efficacy and can result in substantial project disruption.Problematic blow-by was eliminated at the first injection site using thePrimawave technology. The number of successful injection points, and the averageamount of injected material increased dramatically upon implementation of thePrimawave technology. A second project used the Primawave technology for uniformdelivery, and a very favorable remediation response was measured post injection.Primawave maximized injection efficiency and minimized project costs. The results ofgroundwater monitoring events following the injection showed a very good response asindicated by reduced dissolved contaminant concentrations in the treated area. Primawavewas used at these two sites as a surface-mounted system for direct push rods, butcan be used with injection wells also. Primawave generates a fluid pressure pulse throughthe injected product that causes momentary increase in the effective porosity. The pressurepulse moves fluid into the aquifer more effectively and potentially decreasing theblow-by effect.
