Acceptance and Use of an E-Publishing Platform: An Empirical Study on Chinese SciencePaper Online

For deeply understanding the acceptance and use of Chinese SciencePaper Online (CSO), this study developed a research framework to identify factors that would influence the acceptance and use of CSO using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A model with 6 constructs and 7 paths are constructed considering both theoretical and practical backgrounds. Then a survey involving more than 504 users of CSO was conducted to examine this proposed model using structural equation modeling (SEM) technique. Analysis on relationships among those factors in the proposed model that influence the scholars' acceptance and use of this E-publishing platform are also made. Moreover, approaches to enhance the acceptance and use of it are discussed. It is found that (1) Perceived Usefulness has the greatest total effect on Behavioral Intention; (2) both Perceived Behavioral Control and Perceived Ease of Use directly play significant roles in influencing Behavioral Intention; (3) Subjective Norms have significant indirect effects on Behavioral Intention through Perceived Usefulness.
