An airborne, P-band ice sounding radar is being developed at the Technical University of Denmark under ESAfunding. The fully polarimetric radar features aperture synthesis and a multiple-phase center antenna supportingan experimental surface clutter suppression mode. This paper addresses the design and implementation of thesystem with special emphasis on the on-board aperture synthesis. In March 2008, the system will be functionallytested in Greenland, and during a proof-of-concept campaign in May 2008, data will be acquired over an appropriateice sheet.
