摘要

Optically pumped lasing action and recoverable photodegradation in the common organic dye 1-amino-2-methylanthraquinone (Disperse Orange 11) is presented. The dye was incorporated into polymethyl methacry-late (PMMA) rods and amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) was studied under second harmonic Nd:YAG laser excitation in a tranverse pumping configuration. Gain and conversion efficiency is found to be comparable to other laser dyes with the stimulated emission centered at the attractive wavelength of 650nm. Photodegradation of the dye-doped-polymer is found to be superior and uniquely fully reversible.
