The future development of biopolymer-based medical devices is going to require the deployment of advanced manufacturing techniques to fabricate components with mechanical, blood interaction, and biodegradable properties tailored to specific biomedical applications. This could be achieved via selectively controlling the molecular orientation in the product. To this end, this study focuses the utilization of an advanced polymer melt manipulation based processing technique to effectively tailor molecular orientation so as to achieve the desired mechanical, blood interaction and biodegradable properties.
