Instantaneous (a few minutes) and short term (a few days) embedment test results are presented in this paper. Douglas fir specimens with 6d width, 7d long and 2d or 4d thick with d 8, 14 and 20 mm were used for instantaneous tests. Natural drying condition provide moisture a continuous evolution of moisture content values between 13 and 36%. Dowel bearing strength, failure type and envelop curve are presented. Short term test with seasoned and unseasoned specimens tested in dry and wet service condition are realized with a five days long preloading at 40% of the estimated maximal strength. Dowel bearing strength, envelop curve and creep displacement are presented.
