Laminated Moso bamboo members were developed and used as flanges and Japanese cedar lumbers were used as web members to investigate the flexural performance of bamboo/wood box beams in this study. The results showed that the maximum loading capacities of beams fabricated with either horizontally or vertically laminated bamboo flanges were higher than that of beams with solid wood flanges. Box beams reinforced with either 10d box nails or wood screws between the interface of bamboo flange and solid wood web had higher maximum loading capacities than that of solid wood box beams. Based on the design deflection limitation, box beams fabricated with laminated bamboo flanges can provide equivalent distributed loads between 1.85 and 2.09 KN/m, which are 30.9 to 47.5% higher than that of solid beams.
