Factors Influencing the Choice of Tree Species In Wooden Surfaces An Architectural Survey

The aim of this study is to find out which criteria architects use in the choice of wood species in interior and exterior wooden surfaces in their projects. It is also to be inquired by which means architects gather and gain the information needed. The results show a clear polarization in the effort architects invest in the choice of tree species during their work. It is also evident, that the used criteria are either technically or aesthetically emphasized. In the exterior coverings technical and traditional values are sought while interior design is considered to be more suitable for a quest for fashionable and avantgardistic solutions, including sometimes a recognized technical risk. The sources of information are numerous. A considerable change is recorded in favour of the new information technology, compared with the more traditional means.
