This work studied the current energy consumption and indoor thermal environment of urban residences in China.In addition,the lifestyle of residents was also investigated.The aim of this study was to reveal the characteristics of energy consumption of urban inhabitant in China.Various measurements were carried out in this investigation,including the measurements of the use of electricity and gas,temperature and relative humidity throughout a year within three urban houses.It was found that heating consumption of House 1 (in Shanghai) and House 2 (in Changsha) appeared mainly in January.In these houses without district heating,the temperature varied between 10 and 15 °C.Indoor temperature of House 3(in Harbin) that uses district heating was around 25°C.
