A Comparative Study on Fish Physical Habitat Simulation Model

In this study, PHABSIM which has a capability of 1-Dimensional physicalhabitat modeling and River2D which has a capability of 2-Dimensional physical habitatmodeling has been applied to the major tributaries of Han River in order to estimate theoptimum flow for the fish habitats and determine the instream flow. Moreover, theWeighted Usable Area (WUA) as well as optimum instream flow for fish habitat,estimated by the two different models in each growth step (adults and spawning) of thetarget fish had compared and reviewed. As a result, the correlation analysis for WUAbetween 1D and 2D models had estimated as the range of 0.87 to 0.99. The estimatedoptimum flow for each location considering the conditions of inhabiting fishes showedinsignificant difference of 3 m~3/s to 5 m~3/s.
