SMART CARD TECHNOLOGY IN SUGAR INDUSTRY

The purpose of the Smart Card is to automate cane related, farmer related and employee related activities including Cane Plantation to cane crushing and employee attendance. The current operations are not only tedious, error prone but also consume a lot of stationery. Data entry at various stages induces human errors, wasting valuable resource time resolving grievances. The other major disadvantage includes unavailability of information to the farmer for which he necessarily has to visit either the factory or the regional agriculture office.Implementing the Smart Card system has helped eliminate manual paper work, data duplication and the need for huge manpower thus plugging costs on stationery, resources and error corrections. The farmer and employee can have his entire information at his disposal on the Smart Card thus making the entire operations transparent.
