The design and development of a smart stability control system for both Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MCV & HCV) is the demand of the day. From the technical challenge point of view, the proposed solution, in addition to being robust and reliable, need to comprise effective sensors, an optimized processing platform and a passive indication/ alert system. Considering all these Critical to Quality (CTQ) attributes of the system, the proposed systematic system approach has been considered to define and design the referred roll-over control system. Absence of a stability system in these classes of vehicles has increased the probability of accidents in the existing road driving and operating conditions. Most of the time, the accidents are due to unstable conditions. Therefore, a safety compliant, low cost, efficient stability control system mitigates the identified problem area and introduces passive safety to these sectors of vehicles by providing appropriate alerts before roll over and other unstable conditions. This system could also be easily adapted to other similar markets.
