To design three-dimensional punching die with Pro/E greatly increases design efficiency and accuracy of dies, but there is no special module in Pro/E for punching die design because of Pro/E's versatility. Existing research on Pro/E re-developing mostly focused on punching die standard component library. We haven’t found any redeveloping research on calculating module facing punching die design process. This paper researches Pro/E re-developing method for punching die design. A computer aided calculation module specialized in punching die design is developed based on Pro/E, which completes calculation process in initial design stage involved blanking force, ejecting force, unload force and the dimension of cutting edge. Compared with traditional empirical design method, this module could shield fussy calculation and get accurate results at the same time. In addition, a standard component library for punching die is developed which could complete functions simultaneously includes display, search and modification of standard component parameter, as well as model update. Then it resolves the problem of existed standard component library that standard component parameter can not be viewed directly as nonstandard component model is produced. At last, an example shows the effects of the calculation module.
