Investigation of Online Auction Mechanism

We investigate 114 online auction systems by searching in main search engines (Baidu and Google) with keywords “online auction” and “Interact auction” (in Chinese). First we perform an analysis of the three main business models and point out that “Doing-well” websites have nine features. Second, we compare the auction frequencies of different websites and find that most auctions last about 1 week. Third, we look through the closing and bumping rules of online auctions. At last, the popular auction types adopted in the websites are discussed.
