Formacel? 1100: Spray Foam Optimization and Commercial Demonstrations

The Chemours Company (Formerly the DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts business) has recently commercialized Formacel? 1100 (HFO-1336mzz-Z). a unique zero ODP, low GWP, non-VOC, nonflammable foam expansion agent that provides a balanced option for environmental sustainability and excellent performance in rigid polyurethane (PU) and related applications. This presentation will discuss new research efforts which seek to explore and understand the key variables involved with delivering optimum performance in spray foam applications. A series of focused Design of Experiments (DOEs) coupled with advanced analytical techniques were used to define an optimal window for formulation recipes and application conditions. In addition, the findings were directly applied to commercial installations which will be discussed. The culmination of these efforts and the advantages of the Formacel? 1100 molecule will be presented.
