High density powder metal parts offer improved performance to the end user and allow powder metallurgy to expand into more demanding applications. Utilizing the fact that small particles sinter more effectively than large powders, one method to reach higher sintered densities utilizes mixtures of fine powders and coarse powders. This study shows the properties achievable using granulated fine powders mixed with conventional PM powders and processed under varying conditions. Comments are also included on the economics of each process used.
