FULL-SCALE VERIFICATION OF COUPLED-MODE EXCITATION OF A 50-TON TAINTER-GATE

摘要

This paper presents the test results from an operational 50-ton Tainter-gate, located in Japan, to determine its susceptibility to large-amplitude, self-excited vibration by the coupled-mode, self-excitation mechanism. Further, a previously developed theoretical stability analysis was used to determine the essential dynamic instability of the gate.
