As the industrial automation industry moves to highly networked and open control systems, the likelihood of malicious and unintentional attack on those systems dramatically increases. As a result of increased likelihood of attack, a program must be put in place which addresses the digital security of Process Control Systems (PCS). This paper examines some of the key elements of an information protection program which can be implemented to secure the fulfillment of the advantages of a networked process control system.
