A New Methodology for Power System Quality Analysis of Umbilical Cables Using 2D-Finite Element Method

摘要

This paper describes a new general methodology for electromagnetic analysis of umbilical cables. The goal of this electromagnetic analysis is the evaluation of power system quality (voltage drops, unbalance and modulation in the load terminals) and investigation of cable performance. The methodology is based on the application of 2D-finite element method coupled to electric circuit, using the transposed multiple segments technique to model 3D aspects. Both frequency-domain and time-domain analyses are carried out aiming to compare the results.
