In this paper, a new approach based on charge simulation technique and integral algorithm is proposed for the numerical evaluation of ionized field quantities associated with HVDC corona. Unlike the former methods, a set of nonlinear equations are established directly from the basic relations of DC corona problem, from which necessary ionized field parameters can be obtained using the NGB method. Different cases of the single conductor above ground are analyzed, and the results show good agreement with available experimental data. The method has also been successfully applied to the calculation of the electric field and the ion current density of a realistic HVDC transmission line.
