Nine dining halls in the six universities were selectedfor this study to survey the indoor air quality indining halls in Wuhan. The indoor air pollutants thatincluded PM10 (particulate matters with 10aerodynamic diameters less than 10 um), carbonmonoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) weremeasured. The results indicated that the dominancesources were indoor sources such as cooking,tobacco smoking and human exhausts in theuniversity dining halls. The outdoor sources such asvehicle exhausts were subordinate sources. PM10level in most dining halls, more than 67%, washigher than the standard of Chinese indoor air quality.The maximum indoor PM10 level in this studyreached 0.694 mg/m 3 . Poor ventilation system alsohad effect on the air quality in the dining halls. TheCO level could reach 14.4 ppm in the dining hallwithout good ventilation.
