This paper discusses different concepts for CO_2 separation from coal fired power plants with emphasis on concepts with gas separation membranes. These membranes are either located downstream at the end of a conventional power plant or they are integrated inside the total system. The development of plant concepts, especially the simulation results for the membrane process environment, is described. Besides flow-sheet simulation for the different concepts (post- and pre-combustion capture, oxycoal processes), selected components, located in the membrane process environment, are designed.
