BP continues to look for opportunities to deploy CO2 Capture and Geological Storage (CCGS) technologies at industrial scale. The primary long-term opportunities are in the power sector and through technology development, we are working to reduce the cost of CCGS. However, the technology will be deployed at industrial-scale, only when the benefits of CCGS exceed the costs. Benefits are to a large extent driven by policy frameworks and projects will initiate in regions where policy framework development is occurring. This paper summarises two projects recently announced by BP and partners, The Peterhead Hydrogen Power Project in Scotland and the Carson Hydrogen Power Project in California USA.
