摘要

The combination of the two most interesting main stream semiconductor technologies used for mass storage can open new application fields and allow enhanced mission profiles in space borne data handling systems and instruments. The semiconductor mass storage technologies DDRSDRAM and NAND Flash are introduced and compared with other semiconductor technologies. Especially the NAND Flash technology represents a rather new candidate for storage applications in space which provides an outstanding feature: non-volatility. Therefore this NAND technology, its features and application is described in more detail and a concrete Flash based memory module is presented.
