TWO SPACECRAFT - ONE SIMULATOR THE HERSCHEL-PLANCK OPERATIONAL SIMULATOR DEVELOPMENT

The Herschel-Planck Operational Simulator is being developed by VEGA IT GmbH and Dataspazio for the European Space Agency’s Operation Centre ESOC. The development of the simulator is indeed challenging due to the scale and complexity of the systems modelled. This paper presents the development from two view points. Firstly, the design approach is considered detailing the decisions taken with respect to modelling both spacecraft within one simulator. Secondly, the development process used through the lifecycle of the project is presented.
