The problem of mixed beams with a slip at the connection has been studied in many ways. The analysis is well treated, for using at simple supported beams or similar structures, at the Eurocode 5. There are also a defined matrix and several finite element procedures to solve the structural analysis. Nevertheless, the design process is presented as iterative and the variables of the problem have not been showed. We have separated the strength problem and the stiffness problem. We present here the variables in a powerful non-dimensional way and their exact relationships in simple supported beams. These variables show the nature of the problem in a clear way, and it proves that the design process needs not to be iterative.
