Geotechnical Properties of Ankara Clay as a Sanitary Landfill Bottom Liner Material

摘要

The objective of this study is to determine the geotechnical properties of the clayey foundation soils in the Ankara region to assess their suitability as compacted sanitary landfill bottom liners. The expected leakage rates through clay-only and composite geomembrane-clay liners constructed with compacted Ankara clay were determined. The results of the geotechnical tests and leakage rate calculations show that Ankara clay is suitable to be utilized as a compacted clay landfill liner material.
