A hybrid approach which combines quantitative traditional processing industrial monitoring with a qualitative improved fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is developed to present the information which obtained from the monitoring and inspection procedure and predict the probability of the fault in process which must be assured in pull system of lean production. The main aspect of this study is to establish a hybrid model based on traditional processing industrial monitoring and an improved fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model, in which the faults in process will be forecasted by this improved fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model. Meanwhile, a fuzzy relation matrix R for objective evaluation of the probability of the fault in process, a series of membership functions for the special faults are being evaluated according to the experiences. Weighting factor vector A is deduced from a survey of panel of judges. Vector A in conjunction with matrix R generates the comprehensive grading vector B which will be unified to predict the probability of the fault in process. Finally, an actual example is offered to verify the feasibility of the above approach in lean production.
