Bifunctional Carbon Adsorbent Capable ofAdsorption and Self-regeneration

Bifunctional carbon adsorbents with adsorption and photoactivity were prepared by the reaction of resorcinol andformaldehyde with inorganic alkoxide, followed by carbonization at 900 °C under N2 atmosphere. After fully decompositionof MB under UV irradiation, bifunctional carbon adsorbents showed the adsorption capacity toward MB whereas P-25 andST-01 did not. Therefore, bifunctional carbon adsorbents with combined functions of adsorptivity and photoactivity have'self-regeneration', which does not need the regeneration process when adsorption sites are saturated.
