Supercritical carbon dioxide was used as aprocessing medium for the fabrication of proteinentrapped poly(DL-lactic acid) microparticles. Theplasticized polymer and dry powder protein mixturewere sprayed at 35 °C to form solid particles in theabsence of solvents. Ribonuclease A, lysozyme,insulin and calcitonin were all successfullyentrapped and released without significant loss ofactivity.
