A method for incorporation of biotinylatedligands for targeted drug delivery onto thesurface of PLGA particles was developed usingan avidin-palmitate conjugate. Functional avidinwas shown to be presented on the modifiedmicrospheres. The release kinetics ofencapsulated protein was unaffected but theencapsulation efficiency and particle yield wereincreased.
