The test device and test principle of a small flyer initiating system are described. The device is based on a metal foil exploding to drive flyer to initiate a desensitized explosive pallor. For the testing equipment, it has been considered that the charge voltages must can be adjusted continuously in a large range. The volume of small flyer initiator must as soon as possible small. This has been first come true. Now the voltage range of the small flyer initiator is 1500～15000 V. The diameter of flyer is 1mm. The size of whole flyer initiator is Φ5×3mm. The flyer sensitivity of HMX was tested. The test results show that the test method and the test device more suit to initiate the fine-grained desensitized explosive.
