The technology of intelligent Agents and multi-Agent systems is an efficient approach to solve complex, distribute fault diagnosis problems. Considering the complexity of diagnosis task decomposition and allocation in multi-agent system, the formalization of diagnosis Agent and diagnosis task, the definition and the process of task allocation are given. A new dynamic task allocation algorithm based on Contract Net Protocol is put forward. A multi-property effect function is used to weigh the resolution capability of diagnosis Agents. Based on the invite and bid process, the steps of dynamic task allocation are presented to provide the optimal task decomposition and allocation scheme.
