Real time image and signal processing is becoming increasingly important in today's military arena for functions such as tactical and strategic surveillance, surface and airborne target acquisition and tracking, self guided armaments. A real-time image processing method based on DSP is introduced. In this system, high-speed signal processor TMS32C6203 is used as kernel component and cooperating with FPGA chips. In order to test the real time specialty of the system, some image tracking algorithms are transplanted. The system has the ability of real-time image processing. The system can work alone in stakeout, safeguard and scout and also as a part of a photoelectric measurement system.
