The application of high performance vector control techniques in permanent magnet linear synchronous motors (PMLSMs) drives demands accurate position and speed feedback information for current control and servo-control loops. The extended Kalman filtering estimation algorithm is employed to estimate the speed and position states of PMLSM. The observer was developed using a non-linear model of the PMLSM based on a α-β stationary reference frame. The currents are controlled by PI controllers, their outputs are used to generate the control signals for SVPWM inverter; The speed controller is PI type In the investigation, the closed loop sensorless control and EKF estimation algorithm, together with the PMLSM nonlinear model are simulated. The simulation results show that the proposed sensorless drive has a good dynamic response.
