Image processing is the core technology in the TV or infrared homing missile. As a typical algorithm unit, it includes several parts such as pre-processing, segmentation, target recognition and tracking. Because of the large computation amount and the real-time request, an image processing platform based on a high-speed TMS320C6203B DSP chip (TI Inc.) is presented. In addition, the complicated programmable logic devices (CPLD) and the field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) are used to achieve the image capturing and pre-processing. The design of the whole system is advanced and practical, satisfying various applications, such as surveillance, target recognition and tracking, etc.
