Single sensor digital cameras capture image by covering its surface with color filter arrays (CFA) such that each sensor pixel only samples one of three tricolor values. Color demosaicing is the process of interpolating regularly these sampling values into the dense pixel maps for each spectral component. In this paper, we will present techniques for interpolating the color images directly in the YUV color space. The resulting interpolated images could be directly used in the DCT based JPEG compression. To compare the performances of the proposed YUV color space interpolation algorithms, we exploit image quality testing method: MSE and PSNR, and consider memory capacity, computational speed and false color suppression.
