The dynamics of elastic bodies in large and rapid motion has been studied by a number of investigators. These analyses fall into two categories with the first considering relatively simple systems by Raleigh-Ritz method, etc. and the second considering more complex shapes and systems by numerical methods. In this paper we present a method combining the features of these two categories. A lumped-mass or a finite segment is used to model the elastic system. The segments are loaded with inertia forces representing those developed in the physical systems. Application and illustration with a rotating beam is presented. The results are shown to compare favorably with those obtained by other methods.
