Using FIFOs to Interface High-Speed Data Converters with TI TMS320C54x DSP

Digital signal processor (DSP) has been applied widely in the field of high-speed data acquisition. It has the merit of high speed, stability and easy interface. Connecting fast data converters to a DSP can be a demanding task. This paper introduces a method of buffering the data between a DSP and analog front ends (AFEs). It shows how to use FIFO as an interface between an analog-to-digital converter(ADC) and TMS320C54X DSP， and this method can also be used for other data converters.
