Wireless monitoring of temperature is becoming an important requirement for many industries. A novel wireless temperature instrument based on low- power and low-cost quartz tuning fork sensor has been developed for on-site monitoring the temperature and widely used by temperature-controlled transport to determine time-temperature history during typical processes. This type of wireless temperature meter is composed of three part s: a low power consumption, high reliability, high-precision and full-digital frequency output signal quartz tuning fork sensor, an 8-bit CMOS microcontroller PIC16F877 and a radio frequency (RF) module for sending detected signals to a base station through wireless communication. All the modules are hybrid integrated in a printed circuit board (PCB) and low-power consumption below 15mW has been achieved .Experimentally, the wireless temperature meter for use the temperature from -20°C to 110°C with accuracies of 0.05°C and with a resolution of 0.01°C.
