In this paper, the performance of Micro STAR-MEET system which gasified wood chipswith a fixed bed gasifier to generate electric power from the reformed gas is reported. Theobjective is to investigate the optimum operating parameters of gasification and reformingfor wood chips under prerequisite of the low heating value of reformed gas being over 3.4MJ/m 3 N, so that this process can be put into commercial application early. The results showthat the optimum conditions of gasification were 0.14~0.15 of gasification air ratio and 0.5of steam ratio respectively, and that of reforming were 0.5 of steam ratio and above 850°C? of reforming temperature. Under this condition, the low heating value of the reformedgas was 3.6MJ/m 3 N; the cold gas efficiency of the gasification system and the gross thermalefficiency of a diesel engine were 54.7% and 22.8% respectively.
