HEAP LEACHING OPERATIONS AND PRACTICESAT CORTEZ GOLD MINES

Over the past decade, heap leaching at Cortez hasevolved from a rather small operation producing around30,000 ounces per year of gold to an operation scheduledto produce over 400,000 ounces in 2004. Evolution andexpansions in the heap leach operations are discussedincluding plant design criteria and some of the designfeatures in the various facilities. Operating parametersand production forecasting are also discussed.
