This paper provides a framework for integrating fuzzy expert systems with discrete eventsimulation, which will be utilized to enhance the input modeling process in discrete eventsimulation. Predicting the activity output (I.e. duration) using fuzzy expert systems willprovide a new modeling feature to discrete event simulation. In previous studies, fuzzy settheory was mainly utilized to control resources in discrete event simulation. The proposedintegration is designed to provide real-time prediction of the activity output (I.e. duration) bycapturing and modeling the changes in the factors affecting the activity output whenever thesimulation time advances. The paper will show how this integration is achieved and how theinputs are handled in the integrated model.
