COMPARISON OF TWO INDOOR CO MONITORING METHODS

A comparative study of two indoor Carbon Monoxide (CO) monitoring methods, electrochemistry and Non-Dispersive Infra-Red (NDIR), was conducted with constant temperature and relative humidity. CO data Logger, an electrochemical monitor and a certain type of NDIR CO Analyzer was selected to measure indoor COconcentration. Statistical methods such as linear regression, statistical correlation, and paired-samples t-test were used to analyze the CO data by the two monitoring methods. The results showed that the data obtained by two kinds of monitors had a strong correlation, but the difference was significant. After correcting the electrochemical CO data by the correction coefficient 0.77, and then conducting paired-samples t-test to compare with NDIR data,the result showed that two types of data had no significant difference. So it is feasible to utilize the simple and convenient electrochemical CO data Logger instead of the complex NDIR CO Analyzer with constant temperature and humidity for monitoring remote rural area indoor CO.
