This paper puts forward a novel concept, spatial flow influence factor (SFIF), which presents a novel insight into air flow structure. The concept and the novel insight are very helpful for indoor air pollutant control: (1) for given indoor air flow and sources of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), the optimal arrangement of the VOC sources can be easily obtained; (2) for given positions of VOC sources and occupied regions (or target regions),the optimal indoor air flow pattern or organization can be determined. For the illustrative purpose, several examples of applying SFIF in indoor air VOC consol are presented.
