We have been developing soft-drink-can-size satellites, called "CanSats", since 1999. Every year, wehave these satellites launched by amateur rocketry enthusiastsin Northern California. Since 2001, "Come-Back Competition" has been carried out every year.In this competition, each satellite controls its flightpath to reach the target point, and the one whichlands the nearest becomes a winner. Competitors canchoose not only a "CanSat", but also a "OpenClass",which is 152mm diameter, 260mm depth. In this paper, we will report on our "OpenClass"satellites with a parafoil to win the competition. In2002, we got a good mark at the competition usingGPS as a navigation source. In 2003, we challengedthe image processing to surpass the limitation of GPS.The systems and the control algorithms will be especiallyemphasized. The flight results and lessonslearnedare also shown.
